Enjoy the best Snorkeling in Cancun

Dive into the waters of Xel-Ha, the world's most beautiful natural aquarium and snorkel next to a variety of plants and hundreds of fish in the warm Caribbean waters.
In this natural aquarium you can observe more than 90 marine species such as angelfish, surgeons, blonde, damsels, parrotfish, snappers, groupers, sergeant, a family of rays, puffer fish, barracuda and queen conch, a protected species that inhabits Xel-Ha under a careful monitoring.

Observe the phenomenon of the halocline and thermocline, when dense sea water can not be immediately mixed with fresh water from the rivers of lower density, and it produces a visual effect similar to a allusion, a layer of liquid on the surface is fresh water floating over seawater.

River Tour Xel-Há

Let yourself go! Grab a floating tire and travel across the fresh waters emerging from underground rivers, through mangrove tunnels. The soft current will lead to an open river where exciting adventures await you. The Yucatan Peninsula has a number of geographical features that do not allow the formation of rivers on the surface. The fresh water flow is regulated through a complex system of underground channels travelling in both directions between the peninsula and the sea. Xel-Ha is one of the most important outlets of this system.

From the depths of underground caves, through the mangrove, sweet and fresh water flows to Xel-Ha's Inlet, where it mixes with warm seawater. This river, which is 800 meters, is one of the best visual examples in the world of simultaneous phenomena of the thermocline and halocline.

Xel-Ha River is an excellent place to snorkel, as it is home to both, marine fish and freshwater fish. There are several platforms to stop along the way and just enjoy the scenery. For those who prefer a quieter ride, enjoying the beautiful scenery without getting wet, floating tires are also available (at no cost).
